Job title: Targeted Services Officer (Victims)

Location: Edge Hill Customer Focus Centre, Wavertree, Liverpool (Hybrid)

The role: 

Are you passionate about supporting victims of youth crime and helping to create a safer community? Do you have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds? If so, we want to hear from you!   

As a Targeted Services Officer with responsibility for victim work you will play a key role in supporting victims of youth crime, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. 

Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will contact victims directly and have a responsibility to provide information about the progress of young offenders during intervention or support, upon request, and provide information on appropriate support for victims. 

Working under the Victims’ Code, our Targeted Services Officers must take the victim’s age, maturity, views, needs and concerns fully into account.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to victims of youth crime, offering information, advocacy, and practical assistance
• Engage with victims to ensure their views are represented in youth justice processes
• Work closely with young offenders, supporting restorative justice approaches that promote accountability and reparation
• Facilitate restorative meetings and interventions between victims and offenders when appropriate 
• Liaise with partner agencies, including police, social services, and community organizations, to ensure victims receive holistic support  
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to reports as required  

About you: 

• We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and motivated individual who can build positive relationships with victims and young people. You should have:  
• Experience working in victim support, youth justice, social work, or a related field 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
• Knowledge of restorative justice principles and victim rights 
• The ability to work with vulnerable individuals in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner
• A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity  
• The ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends if required

An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this role, as well as UK driving licence.
