Job introduction
Brighton and Hove City Council are recruiting one full time Hostel Worker to work at Glenwood Hostel.
Glenwood Lodge Hostel, including Off Street Offer (OSO) is a 48 bed Hostel for Single homeless men in central Brighton. We provide high support accommodation to men with high, complex needs and an Off Street Offer accommodation to rough sleepers.
The service supports clients with support issues such as substance misuse, physical and mental health issues, offending and move on and reconnection work.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the support offered to vulnerable homeless people in the City.
You will take responsibility for the safety and security of the hostel and its residents, ensuring that safety procedures and statutory obligations are adhered to and will support a number of residents with one to one support.
You will have great customer service skills, have a strengths-based approach and be motivated and confident enough to help enable people who are homeless to find and be able to maintain long term housing solutions. Experience of working with people that are homeless and may be vulnerable or disadvantaged groups in a residential/similar setting is essential. You will have good IT and admin skills and a positive approach to team working.
As a Project Worker you will work as part of a team to provide a high support service in supported accommodation In Brighton & Hove. You will ensure residents are supported to improve their health, well-being and develop independent living skills, before being supported to move on. You will also help support with other services including education and training to help our residents community integration.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
