Under the Regulations to Mental Health Act 1983, the Council has a statutory duty/responsibility to ensure that AMHP (Approved Mental Health Professional) provision is available over a twenty-four-hour period, 7 days per week.<br><br>During the day, AMHP provision is situated within the Working Age Social Work Team. This provision ends at 17.15 but the current AMHPs are often working past core hours. St Helens Council Emergency Duty Team (EDT) also provide AMHP cover (out of hours) and often Mental Health Act Assessments are passed over to EDT from daytime or, from EDT to daytime services which impacts on both services.<br><br>The successful post holder will bridge the gap where day services end and, EDT begin, providing a continuum of day services from 16.00 to 20.00 hours, five days a week. This post will firm up the statutory responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 1983. It is hoped that the post holder will take the work that on occasions is passed from service to service. This will ensure that we provide a smooth-running service to our service users and NHS colleagues in Mental Health Services, as referrals for Mental Health Act Assessments requested later in the afternoon would be coordinated by the successful post holder, rather than waiting for EDT who arrive on shift at 17.00 hours. You may on occasion be asked to undertake other work that comes under the statutory functions of the Mental Health Act 1983.<br><br>Our current benefits package for this role includes:<br><br>·Additional £4,000 payment paid to those who are AMHP qualified and are added to the AMHP rota. This payment is reviewed every two years.
