What You’ll Be Doing

We have a big vision for Housing Services where we will work deep within our neighbourhoods and communities to improve our services with people who use and rely on them and we are looking for two Income Team Leader’s who will deliver person-centred housing income collection service across the borough.

You will lead a team responsible for managing income collection for Camden’s housing stock, overseeing processes from early intervention and debt prevention to initiating possession proceedings, preparing legal documents, attending court, executing warrants, and conducting evictions. This role includes responding to customer inquiries and complaints about housing income, identifying opportunities for early intervention to prevent arrears and improve service delivery. You will make financial decisions regarding repayment options and agreements, process payments over the phone, and recommend enforcement actions or debt write-offs as per policy. 

Operating within set guidelines, you will utilise your judgment to achieve income recovery targets while managing high demand and conflicting priorities. You will monitor a specific patch of accounts weekly to maximise income collection and reduce arrears, prioritising tasks such as preparing witness statements and attending court as needed.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

All About You
 

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about our ambition to make Camden the best place to live and work. Above all, you will be passionate about ensuring that services are delivered in a relational way, with the best outcomes for residents at its heart. 

You will have the ability to lead and motivate a team of Income Recovery Officers, providing guidance to achieve targets and deliver excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices in data protection and debt recovery. Utilising your judgment, you manage accounts by assessing individual circumstances and addressing complex issues, collaborating with other teams to overcome challenges and enhance performance in arrears prevention and recovery. You are responsible for reviewing and analysing data to meet team objectives and maximise rent collection, identifying trends to effectively allocate resources. With a solid understanding of welfare benefits administration, you assist customers in maximising their rental income and bring proven experience in income recovery or debt collection, ideally within a local authority or housing association, complemented by strong leadership and team management skills and a track record of driving performance and delivering results GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
