Year 6 Class Teacher from September 2025

The Headteacher and Governors of this unique school are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed permanent Year 6 class teacher to join Eccleston C of E Primary School starting in September 2025.

Our very popular, voluntary aided school is set in an attractive village on the outskirts of Chester and within the Eaton Estate. It has strong links with parents/carers, governors, the local church and community, which influence our pupils’ learning and development.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an exceptional class teacher who will:

• have high expectations of themselves, the staff team and most importantly the children in their care
• be committed to the Christian Faith
• be an outstanding practitioner with outstanding knowledge and experience of the Upper Key stage 2 curriculum and preparing children for their SATs assessments
• have clear and sound experience of leading a subject across the school, ideally Maths, History and Geography
• have completed or be willing to complete the NPQ for SENCO
• be an inspirational teacher and role model
• have experience of leading the support of all children using appropriate strategies to ensure accessibility to the curriculum
• have a clear understanding of the unique qualities a small rural school can offer
• be a positive team player with energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour
• have a proven track record of high attendance and resilience
• possess the necessary skills to teach in a Y6 class with creativity and innovation. 
• demonstrate approaches in line with our Team Teach, Trauma Informed Practice and First Aid ways of working

The Interview Process

Shortlisted applicants will be required to deliver a 30-minute grammar-focused lesson to Year 5 showcasing their teaching prowess and ability to meet the needs of all learners. Through interview, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to school life, effective parent partnerships, an understanding of mixed-age classes and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Candidates will be asked to complete a 15-minute exit task.
