Join our outstanding team at Jigsaw to be part of the creation and launch of a new SEMH Hub – supporting staff in schools to make a difference.
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs? Jigsaw Primary Pupil Referral Unit is seeking dedicated and innovative teachers to join our team.
About Us:
Jigsaw Primary Pupil Referral Unit supports pupils who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education and is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Service:
In partnership with Sefton Inclusion service, we have been commissioned to design and set up a brand new SEMH hub – advising and supporting staff in schools to meet the needs of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The hub is funded through Delivering Better Value (DBV) for 12 months in the first instance, with a desire to extend based on the success of the pilot. We will be recruiting two SEMH Hub Teachers for the pilot.
The Role:
As an SEMH Hub Teacher, you will play a vital role in designing, setting up and delivering a new service to support Sefton pupils' diverse needs. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for an experienced teacher (Teacher Main Scale 6 – UPR 3 and offers a SEND allowance). We are open to requests for secondments. The successful candidates will have an opportunity to initially work closely with the Jigsaw staff at our Thornton base and then to also offer an outreach service to schools across Sefton. It is anticipated that the majority of the pilot will take place in primary schools, but may include transition into Year 7 at the end of the school year.
What We Offer:
- An opportunity to explore creative solutions whilst drawing from a bank of SEMH knowledge and experience
- An opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of pupils experiencing challenges
- A supportive and collaborative working environment, both with the Jigsaw team and with Sefton’s Inclusion Service
- Opportunities for professional development and growth
Opportunity to discuss further:
If you are interested in this opportunity, Jigsaw staff would welcome you to visit and discuss the nature of the role. Such visits and conversations would be well received. Currently we have the following dates available for discussions:
March 5th and 7th pm, 10th/11th all day , 13th pm, 14th all day and 17th am.
Please contact school on 0151 934 2485 to arrange an appointment.
Safeguarding Commitment:
Jigsaw Primary Pupil Referral Unit is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Criminal Records Bureau.
Guidance about whether a conviction or caution should be disclosed can be found on the Ministry of Justice website, which can be accessed here:

In accordance with our statutory obligations under Keeping Children Safe in Education, Jigsaw is required to conduct an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This may help identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online, which we may want to explore with you at the interview.
If you are ready to take on this rewarding challenge and contribute to our outstanding school, we would love to hear from you!
Interviews are expected to take place Wednesday 1 April 2025
