Medway Public Health, Health Protection Team provides a critical role in protecting the role of our local population. The team help to prevent threats to health and work with other agencies at a category 1 responder in the event of health protection incidents and emergencies. We are now looking to recruit a manager to lead the team and continue to develop and strengthen the team’s function of providing assurance of wider health protection functions of monitoring health protection surveillance information, effective delivery of screening and immunisation programmes and support the Director of Public Health to scrutinise and challenge commissioning arrangements to ensure they meet the health protection needs of the local population.
The health protection team is looking for a Senior public health manager with knowledge of public health, infection prevention and control and social care. The post holder will work with the wider public health team as well as partnership agencies across local authorities, NHS Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board, UKHSA and voluntary and third sector partners.
The successful applicant will report to the Deputy Director of Public Health. Other aspects of the role include.
Proactively lead the public health, health protection team to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders within Medway Council, Kent, and Medway Integrated Care system, (ICS), as well as regional and national organisations such as NHS E and UKHSA to deliver effective health protection response to outbreaks of infection and disease.
Undertaking practice research, assessment of need and demand, data and financial analysis and arranging provider engagement activity where required.
Working knowledge of the National IPC agenda, and an ability to translate this into operational delivery across the adult social care sector.
Knowledge of Health protection and public health policy
