About the role
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a senior transport planning professional to take the lead on the Council’s transport policy, projects and contracts, working across a number of TWBC teams and in partnership with Kent County Council and our local public transport operators.
The Council’s newly adopted Strategic Plan sets out 4 key priorities: Climate Action; Sustainable Development; Community Wellbeing; Vibrant Economy. In this role you will work to create a cleaner, green and carbon zero future for the borough, seeking to improve road safety and enhance the vitality of our towns and village centres.
What you will be working on
You will support the Economic Development, Planning, and Sustainability teams feeding into the formulation of new policies, including leading on transport matters associated with the Local Plan Review and the Royal Tunbridge Wells Town Centre Plan; bidding for funding and managing the implementation of projects on the ground.
Projects to be taken forward include: delivering the borough’s Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan routes; improving the public realm within our town centres and managing the car club contract.
About you
- A relevant degree and experience is a minimum requirement.
- Experience, or further qualifications, in Transport Planning or a relevant skill such as project management would be an advantage.
- You will have a proven track record in delivering sustainable transport projects and/or programmes.
- You will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and be confident in working with a range of stakeholders including local communities and politicians.
