Licensing and Compliance Officer

An opportunity has arisen to join our licensing team as a licensing and compliance officer at Uttlesford District Council. The successful candidates will be required to carry out planned and reactive inspections of licensed premises and enforcement work in relation to the taxi trade. Additional duties will include investigating breaches of legislation, presenting evidence at Licensing Panel hearings and at Court and liaising with enforcement agencies to share intelligence. There may be opportunity to support new areas of work for the service including animal licensing and special treatments. 
Candidates will have experience and comprehensive knowledge of licensing law, guidance, policy and procedure, including taxi, private hire and Licensing Act 2003. You should also have Knowledge of enforcement procedures, law and guidance including RIPA and PACE. 
You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to manage your own caseload within tight timescales. Excellent communication, organisational skills and attention to detail are essential, together with the ability to contribute effectively to team working. Experience of working within Local Government is desirable.  

The role will involve remote working away from district in support of taxi licensing activities and some night time working. Whilst the role is hybrid and allows for home-based working, there is an expectation of office attendance for team meetings
