Merefield School is seeking to appoint a creative and inspirational teacher to join our team. If you want to make a difference to young people’s lives, you have a child centred approach, are highly motivated and hard working, we look forward to receiving your application. The successful candidate will join a workforce with shared values that puts our pupils at the heart of everything we do. We provide excellent CPD opportunities to our staff that help them meet the varied needs of our children.
Merefield School is a maintained special school in Ainsdale, a small village located between Formby and Southport. The local area and village are a welcoming community with a range of shops, transport links and amenities close by. Within walking distance are beautiful beaches and a nature reserve. These all provide fantastic learning opportunities for our pupils.
Merefield School has 111 pupils currently on roll between the age of 3-19 years with severe learning difficulties including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex physical and health needs.
The Merefield curriculum is unique to the school and written for the pupils based on research and DfE policy. It is innovative, exciting and provides a broad range of exciting learning opportunities to enable all pupils to achieve success. All pupils have personalised learning intentions based on aspirational outcomes. We also value the holistic and personal development of all pupils which provide them with the skills to be able to communicate effectively, be confident and as independent as they can be into adulthood.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with recent experience teaching pupils with special educational needs.
- Be dedicated to the welfare, safeguarding and achievements of every child
- Be able to inspire, challenge and motivate all students and lead by example
- Be creative, innovative and have a passion for school improvement
- Be forward thinking and committed to raising standards
- Be organised and have highly developed communication skills
- Demonstrate they can deliver educational progress and outcomes for SEND children.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, families and other professionals
- Have knowledge and experience of a range of learning needs and strategies to remove any barriers to learning.
- Be a reflective practitioner who is committed to personal development and willing to learn
- Be able to demonstrate their commitment to child centred values
This is a challenging but rewarding role, and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, ambitious, and committed to making a difference in the lives of our pupils.
