We are seeking a dedicated Benefit Assessment Officer to play a key role in administering, determining, and managing financial assessments in line with legislation, local policies, and best practices. This role is essential in delivering effective services that maximize benefits for service users while ensuring income optimization for the Council. If you are detail-oriented and committed to providing economic and efficient financial assessment services, we'd love to hear from you!

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About you
Are you a skilled communicator with excellent customer care and negotiation abilities? We are looking for someone who can engage effectively with customers, colleagues, and other professionals through face-to-face interactions, telephone conversations, and written correspondence.

You should possess strong numeracy skills, capable of performing calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. Alongside these, your ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be critical to your success in this role.

Proficiency in computerised systems, such as MS Word, Excel, and database applications, is essential. Additionally, an understanding of equality principles and their application in the workplace and when assisting applicants is highly valued.

A solid knowledge of Welfare Benefits, Council Tax, and Housing Benefits is required, alongside demonstrable experience of providing excellent customer care. A GCSE/O Level (or equivalent) qualification in English and Mathematics is essential.

This is a public facing role so you'll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English

If you meet these requirements and are ready to contribute to a dynamic team, we encourage you to apply!
