About the role:
Waltham Forest's Lead Local Flood Authority are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with experience in SuDS and Flood Risk Management to work within the Councils LLFA team and with external consultants to progress flood mitigation projects for four Critical Drainage Areas within the borough.
You will undertake vetting and approval of major and minor SuDS drainage applications, as part of the LLFA role as a statutory consultee within the planning process. Undertake reviews of site-specific flood risk assessments, provide drainage comments on planning applications, and attend pre-application advice meetings when required.
The Role also involves assisting with the management of the Councils Gully Cleansing Programme, including supervision of minor highway drainage works.
We are looking for a highly motivated person to become a valuable member of our team.
The post is ideally suited to a graduate with relevant experience in drainage, SuDS, and related climate change/environmental project works.

Key Responsibilities:
To develop and deliver the Council's duties in producing, maintaining and implementing the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.
To provide support and guidance to the vetting and approval of major and minor SuDS drainage applications within the planning approval process, as part of the Lead Local Flood Authorities role as a statutory consultee within the planning process.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Indicative Qualifications
Civil Engineering (or similar) first degree and subsequent proven industry record.
Evidence of recent training on subjects related to the post.
Chartered or incorporated membership of a relevant engineering institution. (Desirable)
Evidence of :
• Planning, programming and monitoring workloads, resources and budgets.
• Development, Design and Implementation of Schemes / Projects.
• Stakeholder consultation
• Previous, relevant management/supervisory responsibility
Terms and conditions:
Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks;
Satisfactory declaration of interest;
Continued professional body registration;
Suitable driver's license;
