Senior Information Rights Officer
£42,840 - £46,041 per annum

London Borough of Newham is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Information Rights Team as a Senior Information Rights Officer on a fixed term contract of one year.
The Information Rights Team work within the Information Assurance function that is currently part of the oneSource shared service across LB Newham and LB Havering.
In this role you will play a key role in the delivery of Data Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information, Environmental Information, disclosure requests and other individual information rights requests within statutory timescales on behalf of the council. You will have a particular focus on processing SARs for our Children & Young People Directorate social care team but will also be expected to support the wider team in other activities.
This post will be on London Borough of Newham Terms and Conditions and based at Dockside, Newham with a degree of flexible working. Travel between other offices that are part of oneSource may be required.
This role involves processing all information rights requests therefore substantial knowledge of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (relating to information rights), the Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 is essential.
You should be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply legislation to complex requests, including the application of exemptions and exceptions. You must also be proficient in preparing and delivering redacted document bundles to support requests.
You should be self-motivated as you will have your own case load and your excellent communication skills will be essential to your success in your ability to work as part of the team and develop effective working relationships especially social work colleagues.
