Grow your career at Dartford, the second fastest growing place in the country. This is a great time to join as we start a new phase of strategy and infrastructure planning to deliver our new adopted Local Plan.
With our large planned communities on brownfield land growing successfully, we are focussed on providing further policy guidance, and on infrastructure funding: working with partners for new schools, healthcare, transport and other facilities. Join Dartford’s Strategic Planning and Infrastructure team and develop your skills and knowledge of planning policy, infrastructure planning and the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
Adjoining London, Dartford is well connected, and is more than just the Dartford crossing and M25: Dartford rail station is adjacent to the Council offices, and links to a wide range of stations in London and in Kent via Thameslink and other services. Ebbsfleet International rail station is 17mins to London. We have the Fastrack bus rapid transit system and good bus services, including TfL buses serving the Borough. Located on the River Thames, the Borough is a complex mix of both urban and rural environments, including Ebbsfleet Garden City and Bluewater shopping centre, but also the River Darent valley, marshland, chalk grassland heath and Ancient Woodland.
We are looking for enthusiastic thinkers and planners keen for a challenge in a positive high growth environment. We are a friendly and integrated team, with planners, urban designers and infrastructure professionals working together. You will have very good numeracy and communication ability, good written skills, and a problem-solving approach. You will have a planning or related degree, and preferably proficiency at GIS systems and spreadsheets.
This is a one year contract to cover maternity leave in order to ensure the team continues to deliver at pace. It provides an ideal opportunity for an early career professional planner or newly graduated planner to gain a wide range of planning experience in a small busy team. If you would like to speak to someone about this post please contact Mark Aplin, Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Manager on 01322 343202.
