Housing Options Officer (Rough Sleepers)

Location: Muriel Matters House, Hastings

Career Grade: 8-6 - £26,409 to £36,124 per annum (subject to performance progression). 

Permanent – 37 hours per week

We are inviting applications for the role of Housing Options Officer (Rough Sleepers).

This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact within the community, providing targeted advice and assistance to rough sleepers and individuals at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer housing advice and support to rough sleepers, in line with council policies and housing legislation.
• Conduct outreach in the community and work closely with partner organisations to ensure services are accessible.
• Carry out triage assessments and develop tailored support plans for clients, addressing physical and mental health, social care, and substance misuse issues.
• Collaborate with local initiatives, including the Rough Sleeping Initiative and Rapid Rehousing Pathway, to deliver comprehensive support.
• Maintain detailed case records and provide regular updates to ensure clients receive appropriate housing solutions.
• Undertake homelessness applications and related assessments to determine eligibility for assistance.
• Build long-term relationships with housing providers to prevent homelessness and secure alternative housing options.
• Actively contribute to team meetings, service improvements, and share specialist knowledge to support the team’s development.

Requirements:

Essential Experience:

• Proven experience in a housing-related support role, delivering advice and assistance.
• Experience working within a multi-agency environment.

Essential Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of the causes of homelessness and the housing needs of individuals with complex issues.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy law, and the link between homelessness and health outcomes.

Skills:

• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to compile clear and comprehensive reports.
• Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage pressure effectively and work well within a team environment.
