About the Role: As a Missing From Home Intervention Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support and advocacy for children and young people who have been reported missing. Your primary responsibilities will include: 

• Conducting Return Home Interviews: Engage with children and young people to understand the reasons behind their missing episodes and ensure their voices are heard. 

• Influencing Care Planning: Record and analyze the factors impacting the child or young person to contribute to effective care planning. 

• Providing Independent Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of children during and after missing episodes. 

• Collaborating with Partners: Work closely with social workers, police, and other agencies to ensure a coordinated response. 

• Educating and Preventing: Advise young people on the dangers and risks associated with running away, aiming to prevent future incidents. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Engage proactively with young people who run away. 

• Maintain accurate records and monitor service activity. 

• Ensure the needs of children and their families are met by service providers. 

• Represent the service positively in various environments. 

• Promote the use of Young Peoples Centres by other agencies and local partners. 

What We’re Looking For: 

• Qualifications: Level 3 Safeguarding/Designated Safeguard Lead Training or equivalent, and a good standard of general education including English and Maths at Level 2. 

• Experience: Proven experience working with children and young people, particularly those at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and those reluctant to engage. 

• Skills: Ability to build positive relationships, produce high-standard written material, and engage and motivate young people. 

• Knowledge: Understanding of the causes of youth crime, anti-social behavior, and other adverse outcomes for young people.

• Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. 

• Flexible and willing to work according to the needs of the council. 

• Committed to continuous professional development. 

• Able to travel as required for the role.
