We are one of the busiest unitary Highway Authorities outside London and this role is central to dealing with the design and delivery of highway works as part of development projects within the city to manage their impact on the transport network.

As Highway Agreements Engineer you will have a good knowledge of highway design and construction processes, as well as technical engineering expertise. You’ll also have a strong customer ethos, working collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues and developers to deliver a safe, accessible, sustainable and high-quality transport network for the city that meets the diverse needs of our community.
This role is part of a newly expanded team being established to respond flexibly and efficiently to the growing development demands of the city. As such, you may be interested in the other team roles being advertised alongside this post currently.
As the successful candidate, you will have:
- technical engineering knowledge and skills
- a keen focus on compliance and experience of negotiating legal agreements.
- customer-focused communication skills that are inclusive and accessible
- experience in collaborating inclusively with a broad range of diverse groups.
You will be based in our modern, open plan offices and benefit from flexible working, including home-working. Joining an enthusiastic and supportive team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues from a range of fields, working closely with the Planning service and Transport Project teams to deliver transport changes across the city.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
