Experience of working in electoral services and administration in local government would be desirable. You should be interested in democracy and the electoral processes which underpins it.<br><br>We maintain positive and collaborative relations with elected councillors, candidates, election agents, the voting public and many other stakeholders. Being able to communicate confidently with a range of different people is essential and you should be self-motivated and organised with an eye for detail and accuracy. You will need to be confident in using IT and various software packages and be willing to embrace new ways of working. You will often be under pressure and working to strict deadlines.<br><br>This role will offer you opportunities for growth and professional development. We will provide comprehensive on-the-job training and learning through Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) qualifications . You will be fully supported and mentored as you develop your skills and knowledge in this career grade post.<br><br>The small Electoral Services team fosters a friendly, collegiate and supportive physical and remote working environment. The team is based at the Town Hall, with a mix of home and office-based working. We offer flexibility to the team and to our new recruits. However, you will need to be able to work more flexibly (and more on-site) around election time.<br><br>This is a politically restricted post for the purposes of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. The post holder is therefore unable to take part in political activity as defined in current regulations published by the Secretary of State.<br><br>During the elections and referendums there will likely be a need to work additional hours including evenings and on rare occasions weekends and working through the night for a Count.
