In April 2023, Wyre Council appointed a new and ambitious Chief Executive to lead the council’s next chapter and a focus on a brand new and ambitious Council Plan.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding Housing Options Team working as part of the frontline team, providing advice and assistance to clients who present to the service as either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
We are looking to recruit two full time permanent Housing Options Advisors to undertake homeless assessments and make legal decisions to clients presenting to the service.
Working in Housing Options provides an opportunity to make a real difference to people in need of help and makes a fundamental difference to our local community.
What you’ll be doing:
- Preventing homelessness by offering innovative solutions to help clients to either remain in their homes or to help them find alternative accommodation.
- Using problem solving and analytical skills to interpret and apply homeless legislation
- Working as part of a team to produce innovative solutions and be forward thinking to help develop the service.
What you’ll need:
- Experience of carrying out robust enquiries.
- Competency to decide homelessness applications with a good understanding of Part VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended), the code of guidance and case law or substantial experience of preventing homelessness with a particular focus on the private rented sector.
- The ability to provide excellent outcomes for vulnerable clients, and high-quality customer service.
- A full current UK driving licence.
- An enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service (paid for by us)
If you thrive in a team that contributes to making a difference to those facing difficult situations then we want to hear from you.
In return we can offer you a salary up to £34,314, 24 days annual leave rising to 29 days subject to length of service (pro rata), great work life balance with flexible working arrangements, employer pension contribution, free onsite parking, discounted gym membership, access to occupational health and wellbeing services, extensive training and development opportunities and a supportive workplace culture that allows you to develop and grow.
