We are looking to appoint a hardworking, friendly and enthusiastic playworker who can provide high-quality care and play opportunities for children aged 4 to 11 years during the after-school wraparound care program. The Playworker will contribute to creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that promotes children’s physical, social, and emotional development.
Hours: Part-time, 3:00 PM - 6.00 PM, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) (16 hours per week)
Salary: Grade 2 - 4 ( dependant on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
- supervise and engage children in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and quiet time
- ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
- assist in setting up and tidying away activities and resources
- encourage positive behaviour and manage conflicts in a supportive and constructive manner
- work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to different interests and abilities
- communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing feedback on their child’s participation and progress
- adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety guidelines
- participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Person Specification:
- relevant experience working with children in a playwork or childcare setting
- understanding of child development and the importance of play
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work well as part of a team and on own initiative
- enthusiastic, energetic, and creative approach to working with children
- a commitment to promoting inclusive practice and equality
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain one)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
- Food Hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain one)
- Safeguarding level 3 (or willingness to complete training)
