Lead the change: become our Housing Contracts & Compliance Manager
Salary: £52,633 - £57,106
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of our community? Join us as our Housing Contracts & Compliance Manager and lead the charge in managing our growing housing portfolio of around 100 homes, including affordable housing for rent and temporary accommodation for homeless households.
Why this role matters: as a registered provider of social housing since 2024, we're appointing a new managing agent to handle day-to-day housing management from July 2025. Your role is to ensure our residents live in safe, well-managed homes, and that our managing agent delivers a customer-focused, value-for-money service in line with our contract specifications.
Your impact: reporting to the Head of Housing, you'll manage one employee and work collaboratively with colleagues to meet our obligations as a social landlord. You'll also ensure effective financial controls are in place and followed.
What you'll do:
- Manage contracts: oversee our contract with the managing agent, focusing on the new service's mobilisation from July 2025 and its ongoing delivery.
- Monitor performance: review contract performance, identify issues, and lead actions to remedy non-compliance or under-performance.
- Ensure compliance: monitor the council's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, identify risks, and implement solutions.
- Collaborate: work with colleagues to optimise stock use, minimise rent loss, and ensure properties are safe, well-managed, and maintained.
- Support colleagues: manage and support the Residential Property Coordinator.
- Drive improvement: develop, review, and implement new policies, procedures, and processes to drive change and service improvement.
Why Elmbridge Borough Council? We offer a range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing and professional growth:
- Leave and flexibility: up to 3 days paid leave for dependents, the option to buy up to 10 additional days of annual leave, and a day off on your birthday.
- Support services: access to a confidential 24-hour helpline.
- Community engagement: opportunity to take a day’s leave for volunteering in the Elmbridge community.
- Work-life balance: The council closes between Christmas and New Year, requiring no annual leave for this period, and you get your birthday off.
