Can you demonstrate good interpersonal skills with both children and adults? Are you able to build trusting relationships with children who are either externalising or internalising their social emotional wellbeing needs? Harold Wood Primary School is looking to recruit a Learning Mentor with ELSA or Thrive experience to join our friendly and committed staff team.<br><br>We believe that to enable our pupils to learn effectively, they need to feel safe in their environment and be both socially and emotionally ready to learn. We understand the importance of holistic development and offer nurturing and enriching experiences to enable the development of the whole child. As a Learning Mentor, you will be resilient and able to manage challenging behaviour. You will also be responsible for the personal development of students.</p>\n<p><br>We are looking for someone who is able to:<br><br>Plan and deliver 1:1 and group sessions which promote learning, good behaviour, better social skills and well-being, including during the lunch hour<br><br>Support children in their ability to regulate their emotions, to model and teach appropriate interactions, to de-brief when things go wrong, and to make reparations (put plans in place).<br><br>Support children in building their self-esteem, increasing confidence and building resilience<br><br>While no formal pre-qualifications are specified, the following competencies are essential:<br><br>· Enjoy learning and have good verbal and written communication skills<br><br>· Have the capacity to understand and apply psychological concepts introduced during through ELSA training/Thrive and supervision<br><br>· Think creatively<br><br>· Able to keep succinct records of involvement<br><br>· Able to work independently and show initiative<br><br>· Have good time management and personal organisational skills<br><br>· Plan and deliver individualised programmes of support that incorporate variety, interest and pace for children to develop their emotional literacy, including:<br><br>                 · Management of stress, grief, anxiety, anger and conflict<br><br>                 · Development of social interaction and friendship skills<br><br>                 · Promotion of a realistic self-concept and good self-esteem<br><br>                 · Coping with significant life changes including loss and bereavement<br><br><br>· Plan and deliver programmes of support to small groups of children to develop resilience skills<br><br>· Liaise with teachers and other support staff about the needs and progress of children receiving support<br><br>· Share knowledge and ideas from training/supervision sessions with other school staff as appropriate<br><br>· Meet regularly with line manager to review work<br><br>· Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies in line with school policy<br><br>·  Support pupils to understand their behaviour, and that behaviours generally have a consequence and to develop strategies to self-regulate emotions and anxieties.<br><br></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Visits to the school are welcome, please contact the school office to arrange a time.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Please apply online.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Closing Date: 6th January 2025 -
