Job Introduction
We are looking for individuals with a positive outlook and who are ready to take on a challenging role
- You will carry out waste/recycling collection duties under the direction of the supervisor.
- You will be an ambassador for BHCC when interacting with the public out on the streets of Brighton.
- As a member of the team, you will be responsible for a schedule of removing household refuse and recycling including industrial and commercial refuse and recycling, and other refuse and recycling from a variety of locations.
- You will use a range of recycling and refuse containers such as wheelie bins and boxes, to help you to lift heavy objects and will assist the driver to manoeuvre the refuse vehicle safely.
- Be reliable, punctual and professional
- Maintain respectful and dignified working relationships and communications at all times, both within the Council and with members of the public
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safe working practices
- Seek to understand the communication needs of colleagues and customers, being mindful of equality issues and the diverse needs of the range of people we work with
- Demonstrate consideration and respect for other’s feelings, opinions and culture
No previous experience is required as we will provide you with training and with the right clothing to wear including all the correct personal protective clothing and equipment.

Hours of work
Your working hours are scheduled from Mondays to Fridays, 06:00hrs – 14:42hrs or 07:00hrs - 15:42hrs.
Shifts equate to 41 hours per week.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
