This role is central to ensuring that all demands for space and time in the street are balanced to minimise the disruption caused to everyone who wants to travel around the city.</p>\n<h2>About the role</h2><p>This is a fixed term role to cover maternity leave.</p>\n\n<p>Brighton & Hove’s Permit Scheme for road and street works has been successfully operating since 2015.</p>\n\n<p>As Senior Permit Co-ordinator you will manage the Permit Co-ordination team to make sure that all permit applications for works in the street are assessed and responded to within the required timescales.</p>\n\n<p>You will:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>take the lead in managing the permit and traffic management requirements of larger projects such as fibre rollout and other utility upgrades, as well as the Council’s own transport schemes.</li>\n\t<li>work closely with all works promoters, both internal and external, to understand the requirements of their projects and balance those with the need to minimise disruption to the travelling public.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>As the successful candidate you will have:</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Experience of co-ordinating road and street works, ensuring that works can be carried out safely and minimising disruption.</li>\n\t<li>Experience of working with works promoters, their contractors and traffic management suppliers, balancing their requirements with the impact of the works on the wider network.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to develop workable and innovative solutions to conflicting requirements, and to communicate these effectively.</li>\n\t<li>Understanding of the relevant legislation (in particular the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, Brighton & Hove Permit Scheme, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984); and the ability to explain their requirements clearly and concisely across a broad range of stakeholders.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>What you will get in return:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Local Government Pension Scheme;</li>\n\t<li>Access 24/7 free counselling, health support, information, and advice services.
