We have an exciting opportunitiy available to join our Resident Access and Support Team. We are looking for a Housing Business Support Officer who is the first point of contact for Wokingham Borough Council residents who have questions about their tenancy and those who wish to explore their housing options. This is a fixed term contract until 5th September 2025.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- To provide a responsive telephone service to customers, residents and other users of Council services
- Assist the efficient, effective and consistent processing and resolution of customer case work
- Supporting customer self-serve and spotting opportunities for the Council to initiate further enabling of self-serve
- To provide administrative support to housing teams
- To support the administration of meetings, including meetings with residents, and occasional minute-taking
- To provide support to projects in the housing teams.
- To provide households with advice and assistance regarding their housing options and assisting households in making housing applications
- To work with other Council services to provide advice and assistance regarding housing applications
- To support partner agencies in assisting applicants to submit housing applications
We are looking for customer focused, enthusiastic, self-motivated people who thrive working in a busy team alongside the with the Housing Departments. You will need to demonstrate an eagerness to learn quickly and have be able to work across different areas of the housing team.
As part of your ongoing progression there are opportunities to join apprenticeship schemes within the council to further your knowledge and skills in Customer Service and/or the Housing Sector.

Whilst this is a fixed term contract appointment, for anyone already employed by Wokingham Borough Council this would be classed as a secondment if successful. Therefore, the usual permission requests for secondments apply and you must speak to your line manager in the first instance before applying.
