We have an exciting new opportunity for either an experienced Licensing Officer or someone with the requisite transferable skills to join our small but busy Licensing team.
Progression from Scale 4/5 to Scale 6 is governed by the following principles of attainment of the Professional Licensing Practitioners Qualification which TMBC will sponsor, and demonstration by the post-holder of their ability to undertake the more responsible and practical elements of the enforcement role.
Licensing has a significant impact on how the Council carries out its responsibilities with respect to the protection of the health, safety and welfare of its residents, businesses and visitors in the Borough.
This role is of strategic importance to Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and the licensing team in respect to processing and granting of licences and permits within the statutory timeframe, undertaking enforcement activity resulting in accuracy and execution of best practice and procedure in operating a centre of licensing excellence.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and customer care skills, be well motivated, a team player and willing to work under pressure within a small busy team. The main areas of responsibility will include the processing and granting of licences and permits within the statutory timeframe; investigation, enforcement and prosecution action where necessary. The post holder will also provide advice and assistance to members of the public, elected members and other Council departments, prepare reports, deal with correspondence and present information to all types of audience from laymen to specialist.
This post will be worked over a 37-hour week, but this will include regular out of hours attendance with occasional Saturday working.
