Our Team:

Based within the Children's Services Directorate, the Head of Education has responsibility for a large team, working together to ensure that Halton provides its children with the best education possible. The team has strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the borough, including school leaders and elected members, as part of the delivery of this key service. 

Your Contributions:

Making sure every child in Halton gets the best quality of education will be at the heart of what you do, working closely with school leaders and as part of the Children’s Services Leadership Team to meet the aims of our Children & Young People’s Plan. You will oversee Halton’s statutory responsibilities in school standards, attendance, alternative education, and Early Years, as well as ensuring a sufficiency of Early Years places across the borough.   

You will play an integral role in the strategic and operational leadership for services supporting high-quality learning outcomes for children and young people, ensuring that Halton delivers a high quality, effective, and responsive Education service. 

As a champion for our children, you will demonstrate your extensive senior leadership experience in an educational or local authority setting, as well as holding QTS.

As this role may involve regular travel across the borough and sometimes further afield, a driving license and access to a vehicle are essential requirements.  Where appropriate, reasonable adjustments will be made in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act.
