The role

As a Building Control Administrator, you will be pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery of the Building Control Service, working alongside a dedicated team to maintain high standards and statutory compliance. This role offers an engaging mix of administrative precision, problem-solving, and customer interaction, set against the backdrop of a vibrant and evolving borough.
Your day will be filled with diverse responsibilities, from analysing and validating applications to ensuring compliance with building regulations and legislation. You’ll have the opportunity to manage application processes, calculate fees, and collaborate closely with surveyors and engineers to monitor and progress cases.
In this role you’ll work directly with developers, builders, and property owners, providing advice and guidance on application procedures and statutory requirements. Whether responding to public reports of dangerous structures or issuing completion certificates, your efforts will help uphold safety and quality standards across the borough.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide advice and guidance to developers, builders, and property owners on building control procedures, ensuring clarity on application types and approval requirements.
• Analyse and validate a variety of applications, including full plans, building notices, and demolitions, ensuring compliance with building regulations and legislation.
• Support in monitoring application progress, coordinating with surveyors and engineers to meet targets and maintain service standards.
• Assist applicants in resolving irregularities, issuing completion certificates, and ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
• Respond to reports of dangerous structures, coordinating immediate risk assessments and monitoring follow-up actions.
• Maintain accurate computerised records, track inspection progress, and adjust workloads to optimise efficiency.

Additional details
Full Time, 36 hours per week.
Salary range £31,884 - £36,888 per annum.
