We are recruiting to the post of ‘Family Support Manager’ in the Early Help and Children & Families Service. This is an exciting role for a qualified Social Worker to further develop their management skills.
The post holder will play a key operational role in managing a team of multi-disciplinary Birth - 11 Family Support Workers who work with families with additional or complex needs, but below the threshold for statutory social care intervention. The team provides Level 2 support to improve outcomes for children and young people and empowering families to become more equipped to manage difficulties themselves. The Family Support team works in a locality model and is based in the community. The Family Support Manager will work as part of the Early Help Service and will be based in Children and Family Centres/Family Hubs.
Key responsibilities:
The role also involves working in partnership with the Early Intervention and Community Engagement Managers to ensure the smooth running of the Children and Family Centres.
The post holder will be one of four Family Support Managers who are based in the Children and Family Centres/Family Hubs in a locality area and may be required to support service delivery across the local authority.
About You:
- A Qualified Social Worker and up to date registration with Social Work England
- 4 years plus post qualifying experience
- Be able to communicate to a high standard verbally and in writing and producing and presenting high-quality analytical reports to a range of forms
- You must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and have experience of developing a team/service area and be able to manage team performance
- You will provide effective management of one of the Family Support Teams within the borough, ensuring that the provision achieves good outcomes for vulnerable children and families in need of Early Help
- You will be expected to supervise staff and provide effective case management on cases with varying degrees of complexity, giving appropriate levels of guidance and support
- You will work with the team and individuals to promote development and well-being
- You will work with statutory social work colleagues to ensure that cases that step-up to or down from them, do so in a safe and planned way
- You must know what excellence looks like and champion best practice with an ability to support, develop and inspire others
- You will work in accordance with national and local policies and procedures, and use the law, regulatory and statutory guidance to inform practice decisions
- You will be responsible for the recruitment of Family Support Workers
- You will prepare and produce a variety of high-quality professional reports and guidance documents and will be able to deliver presentations to staff and partners
- You will work with schools, health, and partner agencies and represent the Council at a range of meetings, proceedings and reviews as required. You will ensure effective intervention as well as engaging in preventative work
Additional information
We have an extended offer in some of the Family Hubs where the operational hours are Monday to Friday 9-7pm and Saturday 9-2pm.
You will need to be flexible and willing to travel to any part of the borough at short notice to provide cover as required across any of the Children and Family Centres/Family Hubs.
