Can you help support Hertfordshire to commission better outcomes for children and young people?
Two exciting opportunities have arisen for a fixed term positions in the CLA & Safeguarding Commissioning Team supporting the delivery of the Council's Children's Services Residential Strategy.
The CLA & Safeguarding Commissioning Team are responsible for the effective commissioning and procurement of placements for Children Looked After and a range of support services for Children Looked After and Children on the edge of care. We work closely with the Brokerage Accommodation Team to fulfil this function.
About the role
You will play a key role in managing the delivery of commissioning strategies in particular the Residential Strategy, working with key stakeholders and service users to help develop services. You will support the commissioning function in line with HCC policies and procedures including Contract and Procurement Regulations.
The role includes ensuring commissioned services, are of high quality, are safe, are of value for money and service users are at the heart of service design and delivery. You will build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects and support effective collaboration.
You will support with the management of project information including the creation of a range of reports to be used to update senior managers and present these to various stakeholders. You will use a variety of sources to produce data relating to services for children and young people in Hertfordshire.
An element of the role will be to undertake visits in various locations in Hertfordshire and nationally requiring the ability to travel to venues.
This role is ordinarily based at Farnham House in Stevenage, but current working practice is a hybrid of office based and home working.

- Experience and skills in project management
- Excellent communication and partnership working skills
- Experience of working with key stakeholders and external providers
- Attention to detail
- Ability to interpret needs and apply knowledge to reports based on multiple data sources
- Presentation skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Experience of commissioning, procurement and/ or service development
- Understanding needs of Children Looked After
- Understanding of Childrens Homes Regulations
