Are you passionate about ensuring the best educational outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Phase SEN Manager to join our Education Services team, reporting to the Principal SEN Manager. In this crucial role, you will play a key part in the management and coordination of SEND services, working collaboratively with schools, parents, and external agencies to deliver high-quality support for our learners.
About the Role
As the Phase SEN Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the SEND provision, ensuring effective implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Leading on the identification and assessment of SEND, working closely with educational establishments to provide appropriate advice and guidance
- Monitoring and evaluating the progress of students with SEND, ensuring timely interventions are in place
- Collaborating with external agencies to facilitate comprehensive support for children and young people
- Providing expert advice and support to parents, carers, and educational settings
- Contributing to the strategic development of SEND services within West Berkshire
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of SEND legislation, including the Equality Act 2010 and SEND Code of Practice
- Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong background in managing and supporting children with a range of special educational needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders
- Strong leadership and line management capabilities, with experience in leading teams
- Ability to analyse data and produce reports, demonstrating effective decision-making skills
- Proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to navigate challenging situations
