Role Purpose

An opportunity has arisen to join Tower Hamlets and the City of London Youth Justice Service as a Youth Justice Case Manager on a permanent contract.

The relationships built with children and their families are pivotal to all aspects of youth justice practice. We are seeking Case Managers who have excellent skills in engaging and developing positive trusting relationships with children and their families from diverse backgrounds.

As a Case Manager, you will be allocated children aged 10-17 years old who have received both community and custodial sentences from the Court. You will undertake high quality assessments and devise individualised intervention plans tailored to children’s needs which have a positive impact upon children’s desistance from offending, safety and protection of the public. You will have an unwavering commitment to delivering the best outcomes for Tower Hamlets and the City of London children.

The Youth Justice Service is committed to ‘Child First’ principles and approach for which collaboration with children, families and multi-agency partners is at the heart of everything we do. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of approaches including trauma informed, restorative justice and relational approaches. The Youth Justice Service is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of partners including speech and language therapists, substance misuse practitioner, police, child & adolescent mental health clinician, education officer and therapeutic practitioners.

For more information, please contact Nancy Stewart (nancy.stewart@towerhamlets.gov.uk).

Closing date: 16th February 2025

Interviews are scheduled to take place in March 2025.

Additional Details

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.

Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.

We are a Disability Confident Employer, which means applicants who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria for the post are guaranteed an interview. Care experience has also been adopted by the Council as an additional protected characteristic.

We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
