About the team
We are seeking an experienced and driven operational Deputy Head of Service to lead our South and West Hertfordshire Older People and Sensory Services Teams which provides Services to a large population and geographical area.
The Service consists of 6 Community Locality Teams, Residential and Community Review Teams, specialist Continuing Health and Prevention of Admission Teams and a County-wide all age Sensory Services Team.

About the role
This is a pivotal and key senior management position within the Adult Services Older Peoples Services Directorate, ensuring the successful delivery of a robust and effective assessment, co-ordination and case management Service and working with strategic partners across Health, Statutory and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise partnerships to achieve best outcomes to the people and communities we support.
The role requires strong leadership skills, motivation and experience of successfully leading operational teams.
You will be a registered care professional and have a sound understanding of relevant social care legislation, have excellent communication skills and be able to provide direction and vision into Service delivery action.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Provide senior leadership to multidisciplinary community locality teams working with Older People, People with Sensory need and unpaid Carers.
Team Management: Lead, manage and motivate operational Teams, ensuring agreed team plans and performance targets are met.
Practice: Provide direction, oversight and leadership in delivering and driving creative, innovative and compliant Care Act practice, contributing to our Connected Lives assessment framework and our Connect and Prevent programmes focusing upon prevention, independence and wellbeing.
Finance and Resource Management: Provide robust budget management and oversight of resources whilst not to impact on citizen experience.
Strategic: Working in partnerships with both internal teams and external organisations to improve and align working practices, interventions and pathways to seek improved outcomes.

About you
Essential
- Qualification - Qualified Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Nurse.
- Professional registration - SWE/HCPC or NMC
- Understanding of social care legislation
- Management/leadership experience
- Experience in operational management in similar role or equivalent / leadership level
- Ability to support 7 day per week service delivery by participating on a hospital weekend on call rota 1 in 6 weekends
- Team or Service Manager experience in operational Services
- Car driver and access to a car (unless disability prevents this)
