Deputy Headteacher
Leadership L18 – L22
1.0Required 01/09/2025

The governors of Wirral Hospitals’ School are looking for a leader who came into education to make a real difference to the lives of young people.

Are you committed to going above and beyond to improve the lives of our young people and their families?

Are you an outstanding senior leader with ambitions to further develop your leadership skills?

Are you committed to achieving whole-school excellence in teaching and learning?

If you can answer yes to the three questions above, this Deputy Headship would offer you the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the continued success of our school on its journey in the pursuit of educational excellence. Everyone at Wirral Hospitals’ School is passionate about providing the very best education and support for our young people and their families, and this role offers a rare and exciting opportunity to help develop the
school at Senior Leadership level.

Wirral Hospitals’ School is a unique education provider which caters for students who are unable to attend mainstream education due to their medical needs. We offer a truly individualised educational experience to our students and seek to appoint an outstanding candidate who shares our vision for a flexible, individualised, student centred approach to education.

The successful candidate will be expected to have:

Substantial senior leadership experience, preferably with experience of developing a number of specific areas across a whole school.

Experience in raising standards of teaching and learning across a whole school.

An interest and enthusiasm for the continued development of the very best curriculum and ARR system to fully meet the needs of all our students.

An enthusiastic desire to take a lead role in managing this unique educational establishment on our split-site provision, catering for students whose primary needs are associated with their wellbeing and both mental and physical health.

A passionate commitment towards raising standards of progress and attainment of all our students, regardless of barriers, during all lessons and by the end of each Key Stage.

A keen interest in working collaboratively with all our partners to help our students and families make a successful transition back to mainstream education.

Excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships across our school, including with pupils, colleagues, parents, governors and the wider school community.

Note: The ability to communicate effectively in the spoken language of English is an essential requirement for this role.

The Headteacher welcomes informal discussion and/or show rounds with all potential candidates prior to the deadline for applications. Preference at shortlisting will be given to candidates who have visited the school. Please contact Jenny Macdonald on 0151 488 7680 or at jmacdonald@wirralhs.co.uk to arrange a visit or for an application pack to be sent out.

Please note that the closing date for applications is noon on Friday 24th January 2025.
Interviews will take place in the week commencing 3rd February 2025.

Wirral Hospitals’ School is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of our children, including protection from radicalisation and all forms of physical, emotional and online harm, and expects the same level of commitment from all staff.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Level DBS check.
All applicants will be considered on the basis of suitability for the post regardless of sex, race or disability
