This is an excellent opportunity to join the Legal and Democratic Services Team at Burnley Council. Based in the Town Hall Reception you will be the face of the Town Hall, delivering excellent customer service as the first point of contact. You’ll deal with general enquiries from members of the public, manage visitors to the Town Hall and support the smooth running of the Town Hall on a day-to-day basis.
Alongside this, you’ll provide administrative support to the Legal, Democracy and Elections Teams. This could range from opening and closing legal files, dealing with incoming and outgoing post, provide admin support to the Land Charges service and get involved with the administration of local elections.
You should have a good level of education (GCSE’s in English and Maths at Grade 4 or above). This is a career graded post, and whilst you might be early in your career we will support you to develop your skills through qualifications, skills training, shadowing and other means. Progression through the pay scales is subject to meeting the criteria as set out in the job description.
You will be keen and quick to learn, generating and applying new thinking and will have a can-do attitude.
Burnley is a thriving market town surrounded by breath-taking Pennine countryside, with excellent transport links around the region, including a direct train line to Manchester. The town centre benefits from the newly opened Pioneer Place, a new cinema and restaurant complex and has an enviable shopping centre and cafe culture. The town also boasts a strong connection with UCLAN, having its satellite site here.
We can offer you an excellent package that includes competitive salary, generous leave allowance, flexible working, subsidised car parking and gym membership, an employee assistance programme and a strong focus on staff health and well-being activities.
If you have the above qualities and want to be part of our team then we would love to hear from you. If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact amcewan@burnley.gov.uk.
