As The Observatory School grows we are adding to a team which has high expectations and sets high standards for both pupils and colleagues.
The Executive Headteacher and Governing Body are looking to appoint two well qualified, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative classroom practitioners to join our expanding specialist team.
You will be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for pupils with special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
Based at our Solar Campus, you will have experience of planning and assessment in the classroom across Key Stages 3 & 4.
To be considered for the Teacher position, you will:
Hold a minimum of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Understand the SEND Code of Practice
Be able to successfully lead a classroom for children with a diverse range of needs, planning and delivering lessons in line with the school's curriculum intent, whilst keeping children safe and regulated.
Be able to teach in at least one of the admission phases of the school 'That is KS2, 3 and 4' it would be an advantage if you are able to work across all phases
Be able to teach in more than one subject.
Be committed to inclusive practice and trauma informed practice.
Be open minded to new ways of working.
Be able to manage and modify challenging behaviour in a firm but supportive manner.
Be child centred, flexible and resilient.
Have a genuine desire to work as part of a motivated team
Be committed to providing outstanding provision for the pupils within your care.
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
This job comes at the most critical junction in the school's development, you will be supporting our growing provision, expanding staff team along with increased pupil numbers.
You will play a key part in this journey by supporting a team of Assistant Headteachers, Heads of School, Executive Headteacher and Governors in the delivery of the school primary aims and objectives.
Your style will be transformational, but gentle, professional and proper. Your integrity, professional curiosity and the ability to self reflect must be on point.
Your knowledge, skills and experience are important, but so will be your emotional intelligence and resilience. Expectations will be high, challenges you have never faced before will come from all directions and the expectation will be on you to meet them in line with the vision and ethos of school.

Closing date for the vacancy is 7th March 2025 with commencement date of April 2025, although this is negotiable.
