The Opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Development Management Technician to effectively and efficiently validate planning applications, respond to customer enquiries and provide support to Charnwood Borough Council’s Development Management Group.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Development Management Technician to provide technical and administrative support to the functioning of the Development Management Group. The role predominantly involves the validation of planning applications but may also include the processing of land searches and determination of formal decisions on Building Notice regulation applications.
Full training will be provided with respect to validation of planning applications and the more technical aspects of the role. A successful candidate will have administration experience in a busy office environment and IT systems including word processing, databases and spreadsheets. Knowledge of the Planning service would be an advantage, but the role would also be an ideal entry point for anyone interested in the field of Town and Country Planning or a recent graduate.
A good standard of spoken and written English and Numeracy are essential, along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will also need to be able work accurately and methodically under pressure, in a target orientated environment.
Experience of working in a planning department is not essential but would be an advantage. The right candidate will be given full training and support. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop a career in Town Planning.
A commitment to providing excellent customer service and continuous customer service improvement is essential. As well as the ability to work remotely.
