£38,934 - £40,755 per annum
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday; 8.00 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. (36 hours per week). However, as the depot operates 24/7, you must be willing to work late evenings and weekends when required.
About Us:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Facilities Team in Public Realm, London Borough of Newham Central Transport Depot, Folkestone Road, E6 6BX.
The Facilities Team is responsible for delivering a wide range of hard and soft services, i.e. repair and maintenance of buildings, machinery and equipment, site health and safety, waste management, cleaning, security, pest control, etc.
You will be joining a high performing team at Folkestone Road Depot, which is committed to ensuring that the depot is compliant and well maintained. The primary purpose of this role will be to support the Building Services Manager to deliver an efficient and effective facilities management service. The key responsibilities of the post are:
- Assist the Building Services Manager with the delivery of both hard and soft FM services across the depot and to deputise in her absence.
- Manage the in-house repairs service including supervision of the maintenance operative. Please note, as this is a small team, the post holder will act as Team Leader and will be expected to work alongside the maintenance operative and carry out repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Supervise external contractors to ensure they are working safely on site and jobs are completed satisfactorily.
- Assist the Building Service Manager with major FM projects
- Conduct site inspections in order to proactively identify issues and faults and ensure that the site is health and safety compliant and fit for purpose.
- Monitor and control expenditure on building materials and FM consumables
- Conduct weekly and monthly tests on fire equipment, generators, hydrant pumps, etc.
About You:
As the post holder will be managing in-house repairs which includes plumbing, carpentry, flooring, minor electrics, sound experience of carrying out repairs and maintenance is essential. You must be able to work with minimum supervision and use your own discretion. You will need to be methodical and meticulous when planning and executing tasks. You should have a good knowledge of health and safety in relation to premises management. As this is a customer facing role, you will need to respond flexibly to service user requests and provide good customer care. You must have good verbal and written communication skills. You will be target driven with a strong commitment to improving performance and efficiency; ensuring that jobs are completed within a reasonable time scale and to a good standard.
