Maternity Cover - Ancora House School and its governing body wish to recruit a teaching assistant to support learners in our community provision to start as soon as possible
At Ancora House School, we believe that every child and young person deserves an education that enables them to fulfil their potential; many of the children and young people we support are facing major challenges in their lives and it is our role to ensure that barriers are addressed and that all learners make good personal, social and educational progress.
Ancora House School is a medical pupil referral provision based on two sites in Cheshire West and Chester.
The Hospital site is based at Ancora House, an adolescent mental health inpatient unit, on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and provides education for inpatients aged between 13 and 18 years old who are admitted to the unit.
The Community site is based at Castle Park House, Castle Park, Frodsham. It is commissioned to provide education for young people, who for a range of reasons, are currently unable to access their home school; these include children and young people who may have social, emotional and mental health needs who:
- Are Looked After
- Cannot attend school because of their medical needs
- Have an EHCP but cannot access their provision due to their medical needs
- Are Post 16 with an EHCP but who are not yet ready to progress to their next steps
Ancora House School is a learning community and promotes personal development at all levels; working closely with partners, families and our learners; the team works collaboratively to ensure the best experience and outcomes for learners.
Our school is trauma informed and the team is skilled in ensuring approaches to teaching and learning are tailored to the needs of the individual and take into account the whole person in the context of their lived experience.
The role on offer involves in class support; one to one and small group activities as well as supporting the core teachers in their delivery to larger groups. Hours of work are 8:45 to 3:45.
Each TA in our setting has a specialism; this role is aligned to the promoting excellent community links; working closely with our Information, Advice and Guidance specialist, you would support young people to access a range of environments and experiences to expand their knowledge, skills and confidence.
