An exciting opportunity has arisen to strategically manage the corporate debtors and creditors functions at Hertsmere Borough Council, ensuring optimal cash flow, robust financial system controls, and compliance with Council policies and regulations.
You will have two direct reports and overall team of four.
Key aspects of the role include;
- Effective corporate debt recovery demonstrated by increased cash collection, reduction of debtor days and the mitigation of financial risks
- Efficient management of accounts payable
- Implementation and monitoring of controls and procedures across the council reporting regularly to senior management
- Provision of expert technical advice, data and information to senior officers and members in relation to creditors and debtors that enables effective decision making.
- Maintenance and development of systems, controls and processes that support both functions.
- Strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
We require a qualified CCAB accountant with an excellent team management track record, but are happy to consider QBE or PQ candidates with the right experience. You will have managed a transactional finance team either in AP&R, Controls and/or Debt.
The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week). The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work flexibly with three days per week from home. Arrangements are dependent upon departmental needs - Managers are expected to be on-site as necessary to provide visible leadership, facilitate face-to-face interactions, and address team needs in real time.
