The YJS is forward-thinking, innovative, trauma informed, and child focussed.  We seek collaboration with staff, partners, children, and families at all key stages to check the Service is on the right track.</p> <p><strong>What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved</strong></p> <p>This is an exciting opportunity to work in Camden Youth Justice Service, which received an outstanding status in 2020. </p> <p>This role is for young people aged 16 – 21 who have previously used Camden Services to make a difference to the young people of Camden.  If you have worked with YJS or Early Help, this should be at least 6 months ago.</p> <p>As an Advocate, you will work with young people from Camden to help us improve how we run our children and youth services. </p> <p>Peer Advocates will work with staff to look at and improve the way we work with children to help reduce reoffending and around prevention work.  You will suggest new ideas and positively contribute to the work of the Youth Justice Service. This will include talking with staff and children to develop programmes that will prevent young people from entering the Criminal Justice System.</p> <p>You will also be involved in the planning and facilitation of focus groups. You may be asked to speak at events attended by a range of professionals including senior leadership.</p> <p>We will give you training, support and mentoring so you can do this work.  We expect you to work a minimum of 12 hours per month, but we will be flexible around any education or other work commitments you have.</p> <p>This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
