We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Dementia Day Centre Officer to join the team at Russia Lane Day Centre.

The post holder will work with the team to provide a specialist, quality, person-centred service that meets the needs of vulnerable people living with moderate to severe dementia and support their carers. Working as a team member to deliver a model of dementia care that focuses on maintaining strengths and abilities of service users, whilst promoting choice and independence.

Role requirements include;

Act as a keyworker for a number of service users taking into account their physical, psychological, cultural, social and religious needs

Develop and utilise specialist dementia care techniques to enable individualised support plans to be developed

Lead, facilitate and contribute to the development of appropriate and stimulating recreational and therapeutic activities, designed to meet the diverse needs of service users both within and outside of the day centre

Assist users in all aspects of personal care and hygiene to ensure a high quality, culturally appropriate service to vulnerable people presenting with a range of support needs.

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.

Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
