About the team
Our Finance department is formed with over 100 employees, and we are looking for a Finance Apprentice to join us.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain on the job experience working in a large and supportive finance department, with career progression opportunities.
You'll be working within our Adult Care Services Finance Business Partner team, who provide expert financial support and advice to the Adult Care Servcices Directorate, particularly with regards the budgeting and monitoring of demand-led care purchasing budgets.
We also provide support to our in-house Supported Living Residential Homes, and Day Centres and work closely with health partners in the management of integrated health and social care, (pooled), budgets.
About the role
The successful candidates will learn and support the team including basic bookkeeping activities, assisting with budget monitoring, and supporting budget managers. Some prior work experience working in a finance-based role or completion of AAT level 2 is desirable but not essential.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with the team of accountants, providing you with the skills and insight to move into a career within finance.

We are offering:
- Sponsorship to complete the Assistant Accountant Level 3 apprenticeship for your fixed term duration, if upon successful completion your contract is made permanent, there will be an opportunity for you to complete the Professional Accounting Level 4 apprenticeship.
- On the job training.
- Day release for college sessions, which will be delivered virtually. Apprentices are entitled to 6-hours per week to complete their 'off the job training',
- Excellent career prospects with an opportunity to progress into a permanent role on completion of the Apprenticeship Scheme if there is an opportunity available
About you
Essential:
- Experience in using IT systems including Excel
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of the team
- Open minded and 'can-do' attitude
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Level 2 (Functional Skills) English and Maths (GCSE A*-C/9-4 or equivalent). In line with apprenticeship requirements, applicants who have a Level 3 or higher qualification in a finance area, will not be eligible to apply.
- Must have been a UK resident for at least 3 years.
- Interest in building a career in public sector finance
- Strong ICT skills including Excel
