An excellent offer…

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

At Brent, we have an established specialist service to assist single people and childless couples facing homelessness. This is a fact paced and dynamic service and we recognise housing solutions are not the same for everyone.

You will manage a frontline service and a team of officers responsible for delivering high quality service to single people, many of who have complex needs.  Your team will manage a caseload and determine options suitable for applicants whilst managing service user expectation. Due to the variety of housing needs and pathways for individuals, we have specialised housing pathways and you will take a lead on one of these pathways if successful.

You will lead and provide support and guidance to officers, ensuring that duties under homelessness legislation are fulfilled.

You will develop your team to work flexibly with applicants as we recognise that no two households are the same.

The Person

You must be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of homelessness legislation and case law, coupled with hands on experience of preventing homelessness and making statutory decisions.

You will have a thorough understanding of prevention and relief options for single homeless people, extensive experience of preventing homelessness successfully with excellent negotiation skills. You will be experienced in people management and leading a team to successful outcomes.

A people focussed person, you will be passionate about customer service and take pride in delivering an excellent service. You will be highly motivated, passionate, ambitious, able to motivate your team and ready for a new challenge.
