The Role
The Parking Services Team are looking to recruit an Asset Maintenance/Civil Enforcement Officer who will be responsible for the maintenance of equipment, machines, signage, general cleaning and some light grounds work. Within the role there will be a requirement to make Safety and legal checks in car parks and also be expected to be able to do limited patrols of Council car parks and on street areas covered by parking enforcement.
You will be involved with car park marshalling, assisting at events and enforcement of parking restrictions and Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) offences across the whole of North Somerset district. The role also covers placing temporary restrictions in car parks and the highway as required and ensuring bus lane infrastructure is in place and in good condition. You will operate as an individual and with other team members and act as a Council ambassador while being consistent and fair, offering help and guidance to the public over a range of topics. You will be expected to have excellent communication skills and be professional at all times particularly when dealing with potential confrontational situations. Full uniform and training provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

- Conduct regular inspections of parking assets to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Schedule and oversee routine maintenance and repair works, working closely with contractors and internal teams
- Ability to gather and present evidence clearly and confidently
- Ensure all parking infrastructure, including payment machines and signage, is functioning correctly and meets accessibility standards.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies, providing technical solutions or escalating as needed
- Manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance equipment
- Enforcement of parking restrictions within car parks and on street areas across North Somerset

Essential Criteria:
- Experience in asset maintenance, facilities management, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of maintenance practices and health and safety regulations.
- Ability to conduct site inspections and coordinate repair works
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise with contractors and stakeholders
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping and reporting
