You will be working at our established Young Persons Project near Hemel Hempstead, which offers temporary housing to young people aged 18-25. As a Housing Support Worker, you'll manage a caseload, hold weekly meetings to discuss goals, and assist young people in finding suitable accommodation when they're ready to move on.
This role is pivotal in fostering personal growth, development, and resilience in the young people we support. Your work will be informed by trauma-informed principles and up-to-date safeguarding practices.

Working hours:
- 17.5 hours per week (0.47 FTE), with 1 sleep-in per fortnight (additional sleep-in allowance up to £1,921, bringing the total annual salary to £11,352).
- Shifts include early, late, weekends, and bank holidays.
We're seeking a compassionate and proactive individual who can:
- Engage effectively with young people aged 16-25, particularly those facing challenges like homelessness, substance misuse, or behavioural issues.
- Build trust and relationships through approachable, non-judgmental communication.
- Write robust reports and communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.
- Use comprehensive IT skills confidently, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Manage challenging behaviours, de-escalating conflicts and providing constructive support.
- Work under pressure, multitask, and respond effectively to the needs of young people and the service.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed principles.
- Working with vulnerable young people aged 16-25 in sectors such as social housing, education, or charities, with a focus on their personal development and growth.
- This role requires an Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS check.
- Your official job title will be Housing Support Worker / Project Worker.
