Teaching Assistant (TA2)

Required for: September 2025

The successful candidates will work 31 hours per week, Term Time plus 1 week.

Due to an increase in student numbers, we are seeking to appoint a number of Teaching Assistants (TA2) who are willing to go the "extra mile" in supporting our pupils to achieve their full potential.  

Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environemnt would be desirable, candidates who possess the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

The successful candidates will be required to work with and supervise individuals and groups of children with significant Special Educational Needs under the direction / instruction of teaching and / or senior staff, inclusive of specific individual learning needs, enabling access to learning for all pupils and assistance and support in classroom management and behaviour techniques.  You will have specific responsibility to support the teaching and learning of children with ASD.

About Us

Presfield High School is an oversubscribed specialist provision which caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism from age 11 through to 19. All our 132 students have an EHCP which identifies Autism as their primary need. We are advocates of Dr Stephen Shore’s belief that “If you have met one child with autism you have met ONE child with autism”. This underpins all that we do and we are committed to challenging the stereotypical views that are often associated with Autism.

We passionately believe in empowering our students and their families to advocate for their individual needs to support them to make meaningful contributions to society and to gain employment if that is their chosen destination. This is demonstrated in our diverse curriculum that promotes an aspirational academic and social pathway.

Due to the nature of the work involved, this post is "exempt" from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
