We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Working hours: 37 Hours (Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Full Time/Fixed Term until 31-03-2026
Location: Ty Penallta / Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Financial Services Team.
We pay an attractive salary of £34,314 - £37,035 and offer access to training and development opportunities.
The successful applicant will support the Finance Manager and Senior Accountant in the provision of financial management information relating to specific grant programmes. You will also be responsible for giving financial advice and accounting support to grant managers including production of designated grant budget monitoring reports, financial submissions and management information, preparation of service budgets, grant claims and financial outturn.
The postholder with assist the Senior Accountant in the production of financial information and budget monitoring information for specific grants to be incorporated into reports to Scrutiny Committee and Cabinet in relation to designated service areas.
For the role, we ask that you have:
- A relevant Level 4 financial qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. Or Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 4.
- Financial knowledge and experience, preferably gained within a local government accountancy environment.
- Analytical skills, involving the ability to interpret complex financial data, use financial projection techniques and produce reports and statistical information.
- The ability to travel to other work sites as and when required.
