Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Humanities to contribute to the ongoing development of the faculty. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, talented and well-motivated teacher to join our innovative and supportive faculty.

The successful candidate will have an affinity with young people and be outward thinking in their approach to teaching and learning with the enthusiasm to develop these popular subjects and a vision to continue the excellent work already undertaken. A feature of Humanities is strong student-teacher relationships with staff regularly running after-school revision sessions and extra-curricular clubs. The ability to work effectively as part of a team and uphold the departmental ethos is therefore essential.

You must have very good subject knowledge and be committed to raising the achievement and aspirations of all students. Our Humanities Team is a dynamic and hard-working department with a philosophy of sharing resources and collaborative working.

The successful candidate will:

• teach at all levels and to all abilities, seeking to ensure that all pupils make very good progress, enjoy their learning, and become well educated

• contribute more widely to the well-being of our pupils, through being a form tutor, undertaking duties, and being a role model for them for their learning and their conduct

• have an enthusiasm for their subject, which motivates and supports other staff and pupils

• be an enthusiastic and innovative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving high standards within a successful department

• be an excellent classroom practitioner

• have a clear understanding of the characteristics of high-quality teaching and be able and willing to teach across the whole age and ability range

• quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues

• understand that behaviour management starts with the quality of teaching in the classroom

• demonstrate personal resilience and role model those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people

In return we will offer the successful candidate:

  • Supportive and inspiring teaching and learning community with regular coaching and mentoring opportunities
  • Individual subscription to a range of research-based teaching and learning platforms, including:
  • The National College
  • TES Develop
  • Bluesky Learning Modules
  • TLP Perks – access to a wide range of discounts and benefits for employees of The Learning Partnership Trust.

Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale

Closing date: 3rd February 2025

Start date: Negotiable - May or September 2025

To learn more about the role, the school, and the development of the trust, please book a visit by contacting Michele Dobson, Principal's PA: michele.dobson@sws.cheshire.sch.uk.

Suitable candidates will be interviewed promptly upon receipt of application. The closing date will be brought forward in the event that the post is filled.

We will only contact candidates that have been short-listed for interview. If you do not receive a communication within 10 working days of the closing date, you can safely assume that you have not been invited to interview.

The Learning Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff appointments are subject to satisfactory references and enhanced checks with the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).

In line with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 The Learning Partnership does not request attendance or medical information on candidates for posts prior to appointment. We will, however, seek a post-appointment reference for successful candidates, which will include questions relating to attendance records. Appointments will be made subject to this reference and the Trust may, in some circumstances, withdraw the offer of appointment on the basis of information received, again having full regard to the requirements of the Equality Act.

The Learning Partnership is committed to the promotion of equality of opportunity and the elimination of discrimination; all applicants should note that they will be considered on the basis of suitability regardless of disability, gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation and marital status or any other discrimination which is unfair or unreasonable.
