About the role
London Borough of Havering is offering an accounting apprenticeship position to a candidate wishing to develop a career in local government to undertake the CIPFA Professional Accounting Qualification. In addition to undertaking their professional studies each post holder will be offered work placements in the Councils finance teams in order to develop the skills, behaviours and experience necessary to qualify as a professional accountant.
Day release will be provided to facilitate CIPFA studies and work placements could be in any combination of financial strategy, financial control, business partnering and audit teams. There may also be the opportunity to work alongside our procurement and systems colleagues. An appropriate training plan will be developed which considers both the needs of the organisation at that that time and the career aspirations of the successful candidate.
About you
We are looking for candidates who are starting out on their professional accountancy journey. If you possess the following skills and knowledge and are interested in a career in local government finance we would welcome an application from you.
- A degree at 2:1 or above in any subject

About Us
Havering is the third largest borough in London and we understand the importance of nurturing “young” talent. There will be times when you are required to attend meetings on site.
